School to Farm Cooperative

Here is how the program works:
Schools or other groups of students, will have access to TWS campus, laboratory & gardens for the purpose of hands-on education. The program will run for a 4 week period.  Once a week student groups of 12-35 will come to the farm/campus for a 2 hour work/learn session.  Guided by TWS staff.  Students may be assigned their own aquaponic growing space and/or raised garden soil box. Each week TWS will offer the students an educational workshop or demonstration.  A thirty minute lunch/snack time will be provided with the program. This program is geared toward middle and high school age students. However, elementary level programs are available. A student-chaperone ratio of 1 -10 shall be maintained for grades 6-12 and a ratio of 1-5 grades pk-5.  Chaperones are free for this program’s stated ratio.

Cost: $15-$25 per student depending on group size (min $250 per secession)
Group size: 12 – 35 students
Day: One day a week either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays for 4 consecutive weeks. A total of 4 school to farm teaching/work days.
Time: Choose morning or afternoon secession

  • Morning session 9:00 am – 11:00 am (11:00am-11:30 lunch/snack time)
  • Afternoon session 1:00 pm- 3:00 pm (12:30 pm -1:00 lunch/snack time)

Total time: 10 hours (8 hours educational. 2 hours lunch)
Availability: First come first choice. Only five spots available per month.
